Relativistic Broadening of AGN emission with general relativity ray-tracing code GYOTO

Supervisor: Parikshit Partha Biswas, pbiswas@camk.edu.pl

Title: Relativistic Broadening of AGN emission with general relativity ray-tracing code GYOTO
Time: The project will run for approximately 8 weeks, from 1st June 2026 to 31st July 2026.

Project Description: The spectral emission from the inner regions of an accretion disk around a compact object (such as in AGN or X-ray binaries) is affected by relativistic corrections. This summer project offers a hands-on experience to incorporate these relativistic effects into the spectral emission from the inner disk regions using the ray-tracing code GYOTO. The selected student will work with spectral emission data from the inner regions of the accretion disk, which includes various features, and explore how relativistic corrections influence the spectral emission.

Work plan:
Week 1,2: lecture series on X-ray and ray tracing
Week 3,4: Understanding GYOTO parameters
Week 5,6: Analysis
Week 7,8: Report
