Description

The cosmic strings, are possible one dimensional topological defects, predicted by some gauge theories, which were not yet confirmed by observations. They can bend light, which causes effect similar to gravitational lensing. When it comes to gravitational waves, in this case we cannot rely on geometric optics approach, which forces us to use another formalism named wave optics. In this regime it is possible to see effects such as diffraction and interference. In my talk I will show how the cosmic strings affect waveforms and which effects could we see in them. Also I will show that it is possible to estimate its parameters using Bayesian statistics.
